Challenge Grants for CEE/NIS Countries
EcoLinks announces a request for applications to support environmental partnership projects on one or more of the following topics: cleaner production, environmental management systems, global climate change (includes energy efficiency). Maximum grant per project is $50,000. Concept Papers are due by July 19, 1999.

EcoLinks Partner Search
The following organizations have project concepts already screened for a Challenge Grant and are looking for US partners. Interested companies should contact ECEE by June 25, 1999.

  • SC Apaterm SA, a privatized company responsible for water and wastewater management and energy distribution, is looking for a US company to help assess different options to reduce energy consumption at the drinking water pumping station.
  • Energy Institute, a state owned company that provides training and consulting services to the energy sector, is looking for a US utility or company that has experience in the application of demand side management measures and activities as well as in the establishment and operation of ESCOs. The partners will work together on developing innovative mechanisms for the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy measures.

Hemispheric Energy Efficiency Session
The IV Hemispheric Energy Ministers Summit will take place in New Orleans, July 28 – 30, 1999. The conference will bring together energy ministers, private sector and nongovernmental organizations from North and Latin America and the Caribbean. The first day will be an interactive discussion involving senior government, industry, and financial representatives who will participate in plenary and roundtable discussions, one of which will be exclusively focused on energy efficiency. There will also be an exhibition for energy companies, agencies, and other concerns. To help shape the agenda for the energy efficiency track or express interest or other feedback, please contact ECEE.

China Energy Efficient Building Technologies
The National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is leading a path-breaking demonstration of greenhouse gas reductions from sustainable energy in buildings. NRDC is looking for corporate leadership partners to help design and equip the 130,000 square foot "building of the future today." The energy-saving technology demonstration and education facility will be the premier facility in Asia for showcasing energy efficient and renewable energy technology, design strategies and educating the building industry in how to employ them. Companies interested in participating may attend a briefing on Wednesday, June 23rd in Washington, DC. Contact ECEE for further information on the briefing or including your technology in the building.

Brazil Cogeneration
Energy Representacoes Comerciais, a commercial representative of electric and electronic instruments and components, is expanding its area of operations and wishes to represent US manufacturers of any type of electric equipment and complementary equipment, in particular, power cogeneration technology.

Russia Construction Materials
Profile-S Ltd, a companies specializing in producing wooden and plastic windows, doors and other construction materials, seeks a joint venture with a US company to produce doors, windows, and construction materials.

Indonesia Energy Audit
PT Epcon Prima Guna, an engineering and construction firm that specializes in high rise building construction, seeks to develop their knowledge and capability in energy savings through Mechanical and Electrical System auditing. They are interested in technologies such as: HVAC, process controls, meters, energy management systems, insulation and building materials, and lighting.

Colombian ESCO Joint Venture
Proyectos, S.A., a Colombian ESCO, is interested in forming a joint-venture with a US ESCO.

Korean Energy Efficiency Exhibit
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and Korean Energy Management Corporation are organizing the Annual Energy Conservation Exhibition (ENCONEX) from September 1 – 4, 1999 in Seoul, Korea. All manufacturers of energy efficient household, industrial, and transportation equipment, as well as electric power saving equipment and new and alternative energy equipment are invited to exhibit.
